Height is the decision that matters: allow 25cm to 30cm between the seat and the underside of your counter, which usually means a 65cm seat for a 90cm worktop and a 75cm seat for a 105cm bar. Measure the underside rather than the top surface, since a thick worktop changes the figure. Allow 60cm to 70cm per stool along a run so nobody is sitting shoulder to shoulder. Footstools double as occasional seating and as a surface with a tray on top. Pair with accent chairs and dining chairs.
