Help & Information

Questions,
answered.

Buying for your home is personal, and when you can't pick a piece up, run a hand along the grain, or see how it sits in your hallway, it's natural to have questions first.

Here are the ones we're asked most. If yours isn't here, our customer care team will happily answer it in person.

Will it actually look as good as the photos?

This is the question we hear most, and fairly so. You're buying something sight-unseen. The honest answer is that the overwhelming majority of customers tell us our pieces look better in person than on screen, particularly our furniture. Weight, finish, and the quality of the materials come through in a way photography can't quite capture.

For reassurance before you commit, we offer free wood and fabric samples on most furniture, and you can read our reviews on Trustpilot, many with customer photos taken in real homes.

How do I know this piece will suit my home?

Every product page includes lifestyle imagery showing the piece in context, along with full dimensions and material details. If you're styling a specific room and want a second opinion, drop us a line. We'll genuinely tell you if we don't think a piece is right for the space.

For pieces you're building a room around, like a console, a sideboard, or a dining table, we'd always recommend ordering samples first so you can see the tone against your walls and flooring.

Can I ask questions before I order?

Please do. Our customer care team replies to most enquiries the same day, often within the hour during opening hours. Whether it's a question about finish, sizing, compatibility with something you already own, or whether we've got a piece in stock for a specific date, we'd much rather you ask than guess.

You can reach us via our contact page, by email, or by phone.

Are your pieces exclusive, or can I find them elsewhere?

Our range is carefully curated rather than mass-produced. We choose pieces we love and that we feel sit well together, so while a handful of our accessories may be available through other independent retailers, the majority of what we sell has been selected specifically for CharlesTed Home and won't be found on the high street.

Our signature furniture collections (Laura, Sarah, Augustine, Antoine) are pieces our customers come back for by name.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Smaller accessories (faux stems, vases, cushions, candles) typically ship within 2 to 3 working days. Larger furniture pieces are dispatched on a two-person delivery service and usually arrive within 7 to 14 working days, though exact timings are listed on each product page.

If you need something for a specific date, whether that's a housewarming, a party, or a milestone, get in touch before ordering and we'll tell you honestly whether we can meet it.

How much does delivery cost?

UK delivery is a flat £5.95 for smaller items like accessories, greenery, cushions, and lighting. Furniture is delivered by a specialist two-person service at a flat £65, regardless of how many pieces you order.

You'll always see the cost before you pay. Nothing is added as a surprise at checkout.

Will I be kept updated about my delivery?

Yes, and if anything changes, you'll hear from us directly. For larger items, our team or our delivery partner will be in touch to book a slot that works for you, rather than leaving it on your doorstep.

On the rare occasion something is delayed (a shipment held up, a supplier issue), we'll tell you as soon as we know. We'd much rather you hear it from us than from a tracking page.

"Kept me updated the whole way through. Honestly couldn't have asked for better service." — Verified Trustpilot review
Do you deliver outside the UK?

We currently deliver to mainland UK as standard. For the Highlands, islands, Northern Ireland, and international enquiries, please contact us before ordering. We can usually arrange it, but we'll confirm timings and costs with you first.

Can I order a sample before buying furniture?

Yes, and we'd encourage it, especially for larger pieces. We offer free wood and fabric samples on the majority of our furniture so you can see the finish against your existing décor before you commit to a £1,000+ piece.

Look for the "request a sample" option on the product page, or drop us a line if you're not sure which swatch to ask for.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. We offer 0% interest finance through Klarna, letting you spread the cost over three interest-free payments. For larger purchases, we also offer up to 11 months interest-free through Buyline, with a quick application completed at checkout.

It means you don't need to compromise on the piece you really want because of timing. You can choose the console or sideboard you've had your eye on and pay for it in a way that works for you.

Do you offer a trade or interior designer programme?

We work with a number of interior designers and stylists across the UK. If you'd like to discuss a trade account or a project-based order, please get in touch directly and we'll introduce you to the right member of our team.

How are your pieces made, and where?

We work with a small network of trusted UK suppliers who source and import from all corners of the world, bringing together pieces made using traditional techniques and natural materials that we wouldn't otherwise find in one place. It's how we're able to offer a collection that feels genuinely curated rather than sourced from a single factory or region.

Individual product pages detail the specific materials and construction for each piece.

Are your pieces designed to last?

That's the point of how we choose them. We deliberately avoid trend-led design in favour of pieces that will still feel right in your home in five or ten years. Many of our customers have bought from us for that long and are still styling around the same anchor pieces today.

How do I care for my piece once it arrives?

Every furniture piece ships with care instructions specific to its materials and finish. For faux greenery, a soft dust or a gentle wipe keeps stems looking fresh. For solid wood and painted pieces, we include guidance on cleaning, protection, and what to avoid.

If you've misplaced the care card or want advice on a specific issue, email us with the product name and we'll send you the right guidance.

Is your faux greenery realistic?

We obsess over this, honestly. The faux stems, bouquets, and wreaths we stock are chosen for how believable they look at arm's length, with real-touch leaves, natural stem colour variation, and considered finishing. Our greenery is one of the categories customers are most surprised by when it arrives.

Will I need to assemble the furniture?

Most of our furniture arrives mostly assembled. In the majority of cases it's a quick job of attaching legs, adding handles, or fixing a shelf in place, rather than a flat-pack build. Full instructions and any tools required are included in the box.

If you'd prefer not to handle even the minor steps, our two-person delivery service can usually help position and complete assembly on request. Just let us know when you order.

How do you approach sustainability?

It's something we take seriously, without pretending to have solved it. A few things we do today:

Responsibly sourced timber. Where timber is used, we prioritise FSC-certified and responsibly sourced wood from suppliers who can evidence their chain of custody.

Reduced and recyclable packaging. We're progressively replacing plastic with recyclable and reduced-waste materials across our deliveries.

Suppliers we know and visit. Working with a small network of trusted UK suppliers means shorter lines of communication and fewer intermediaries between us and the maker.

Ethical supply chain checks. We vet every supplier against modern slavery and labour standards before we work with them, and monitor compliance over time.

Pieces built to last. Probably the most meaningful thing of all. A console you still love in ten years is, by definition, one you haven't had to replace.

What if I don't love it when it arrives?

Just let us know within 14 days of delivery and you'll have a further 30 days to return it for a full refund, provided it's in its original condition and packaging.

For furniture, we can arrange collection so you don't have to worry about the logistics of returning something large. Just get in touch and we'll organise it with you.

Certain made-to-order and bespoke furniture pieces are non-returnable once production has started. This is flagged clearly on the product page, and we'll always confirm before we put anything into production.

What if my item arrives damaged or faulty?

Get in touch straight away, ideally with a few photos, and we'll resolve it quickly. Depending on the situation we'll arrange a replacement, a repair, or a refund. We don't leave customers chasing us on this. Damaged deliveries are rare, but when they happen we treat them as urgent.

"Something had been packed incorrectly and the team sorted it within hours. Genuinely cared about putting it right." — Verified Trustpilot review
Do you offer a guarantee?

Your order is covered by standard UK consumer rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described.

Beyond the formal protection, we'd always rather hear from you if something's gone wrong, whenever it happens. We'll do whatever we reasonably can to help put it right.

Can I send an order directly to someone else?

Yes, just enter their address as the delivery address at checkout. We never include an invoice or pricing in the parcel, so the recipient will only see the piece itself, beautifully packaged.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes. Digital gift cards are available in a range of denominations and are delivered by email, ready to use at checkout. They're a good answer for someone who's hard to buy for or in the middle of styling a new home.
