The detail that makes the Fairford Round feel considered rather than merely simple is what happens at the floor — a rubberwood plinth set slightly inside the diameter of the drum, creating a fine shadow gap around the base that makes the cylinder appear to hover a few millimetres above the floor. Without this recess the table would read as a solid block; with it, the drum has lift and the silhouette has proportion. At 40cm high it sits low and generous, a proper coffee table rather than a taller side table pressed into service, and at 80cm wide the round footprint holds a tray, a stack of books and a cup of coffee without ever looking crowded.
