Will it fit? The 45.7cm shade is the figure to check, so allow a surface at least 45cm deep. On a bedside, a nightstand of 50 to 60cm high puts the shade near shoulder height when sitting up. On a console of 160cm or more, a pair at either end frames it well.

The base is fired terracotta left unglazed, for a matt, sun baked surface with natural tonal variation. The silhouette is a clean, rounded vase with no ornament, so it sits as easily in a modern room as a traditional one.

An aged antique brass neck and finial pick up the warmth of the clay, over steel internals. The white linen hardback shade has a rolled edge and diffuses light warmly. Tone and texture vary from lamp to lamp, so order a pair together.

Dust the terracotta with a soft, dry cloth or brush and avoid wet cloths and sprays, as unglazed clay is porous and can stain. Use a dry cloth on the brass, never metal polish, and a soft brush or lint roller on the shade.

For indoor use in dry rooms only, not bathrooms or damp spaces. Always switch off and unplug before cleaning or changing the bulb. A warm white bulb, around 2700K, brings out the sandy tone of the clay.

A single E27 bulb up to 100W, not included. A warm white LED around 2700K suits it best.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, with a dimmable LED and a compatible dimmer, or a smart bulb.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

No. Unglazed terracotta absorbs moisture, so it belongs in dry rooms only.
