Ellery Burl Tissue Box Cover

Standard rectangular tissue boxes measure roughly 24 x 12 x 8cm and sit inside comfortably. If you buy an unusual brand, check its size first. On a narrow cistern shelf, measure the depth before ordering.

A dark walnut burl-effect finish under a mirror-bright lacquer, deep enough to reflect the room. The swirling, knotted figure is the pattern long prized on fine cabinetry.

The oval opening is shaped, with a rounded edge finished in the same gloss so tissues come through cleanly. The cover lifts off to change the box, and no cardboard shows from any angle.

Cleaning. Buff with a dry microfibre cloth, or a barely damp one on a mark, then dry straight away. Avoid abrasives and bathroom sprays, which will dull the lacquer permanently.

Placement. Keep it off wet surfaces and out of direct sunlight.

What to expect. A high-gloss finish shows fingerprints, which is the trade for that depth of polish. The burl pattern varies from piece to piece, so no two are identical.

Dark gloss looks its best against white tiles, pale marble or painted joinery. Set it on a tray beside a diffuser and a small dish so the three read as one arrangement.

Will it fit a cube tissue box?

No. It's made for standard rectangular boxes. Cube boxes, around 13cm square, need a cube cover.

How do I change the tissues?

Lift the cover off, swap the carton and replace it. There's nothing to unscrew.

Is it real wood?

It's a burl-effect finish under high-gloss lacquer rather than solid burr timber, which keeps it light and the pattern consistent.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

Yes. Just keep it off wet surfaces and away from cleaning sprays.
