Large Berry Eucalyptus

Choosing a vase. Aim for a vessel about a third of the finished height. A 30cm to 45cm vase suits the stem trimmed, and a tall floor vase suits it at full length.

How many? One stem reads as a full arrangement. Three give a lush, layered look. Odd numbers look most natural.

Hand-finished berries that vary from soft olive to ochre, some with a darker crown, in a matt to low-sheen finish. That variation is what makes them read as real.

Bare, structured branching with no leaves, like a stripped eucalyptus branch. It holds its shape upright in a wide-mouthed vessel, and the branches can be adjusted gently by hand.

Dust monthly with a soft dry brush or a hairdryer on cool. Never wash it or use anything damp. Trim from the base with secateurs or strong scissors, a little at a time.

It holds its colour for years indoors, but a bright south-facing window will fade it sooner. It can sit on a covered porch for an evening, but it is not made to live outdoors.

Place one stem in a stoneware or glazed vase with the widest branching facing the room. For a layered look, use three berry stems above softer faux foliage. In a floor vase, leave 30cm of clearance from the wall.
