Faux Flowers and Greenery

An orchid in bloom, always

Slender spikes of small white blossoms with soft yellow centres, cascading in the dancing lady form Oncidium orchids are known for, above strappy green leaves in a glazed ivory pot. All the movement of the plant in flower, with none of the care. More in faux flowers and greenery.

Will it fit? It suits surfaces 30cm deep or more, with some vertical space around it. Avoid low shelves where the spikes would be cramped.

Materials and finish

Plant: faux white Oncidium orchid with multiple flowering spikes, natural curves along the stems and a dense base of strap-like leaves. The surface is dressed with moss and exposed aerial-root detail.

Stems: a bendable wire core, so the spikes can be shaped on unboxing.

Pot: glazed ivory ceramic bowl.

Care

Dust occasionally with a soft brush or a cool hairdryer. Do not water it. Avoid direct, prolonged sunlight, which can gradually fade the white blossoms over the years.

Designed for indoor use. A sheltered conservatory or covered porch is fine, but it will fade and degrade in sustained UV and weather.

Styling and pairs well with

A single statement on a console, sideboard or side table, or the centre of a dining table. Group with smaller pieces from potted plants and trees for a layered green composition.

Questions

Does it need any care?

None beyond an occasional dust with a soft brush or a cool hairdryer. Do not water it.

Can I shape the stems?

Yes. The stems have a bendable wire core, and a few minutes arranging the spikes on unboxing makes a real difference to how natural it looks.

Where does it work best?

On a hallway console, sideboard or side table at least 30cm deep, or as a dining table centrepiece.

Can it go outside?

It is designed for indoor use. A sheltered conservatory or covered porch is fine, but exposed outdoor spots will fade it.
