Will it fit? At 196cm it will not sit under a low beam or sloping eave. Allow 150cm of clear wall plus room for both doors to swing open, and check doorways, stair turns and ceiling heights on the way in.

Construction: solid elmwood with plywood and glass. Both doors and both side panels are glazed, within slim elmwood frames.

Finish: warm honey, with visible grain, knots and natural variation. No two cabinets are identical, which is the timber working as intended.

Handles: antique knob handles in a dark bronze patinated metal.

Assembly and wall mounting: assembly is required and instructions are included. Wall mounting is essential at this height, weight and depth, and concealed brackets are supplied. Fix into masonry or timber studs, as plasterboard fixings alone are not adequate. It is a two person job at minimum, and we suggest a professional fitter if you are unsure. Secure it before loading, heaviest pieces low.

Spray glass cleaner onto a soft cloth rather than the panel, and dry the frame at once if any runs onto it. Dust the timber along the grain with a dry cloth, and avoid silicone polishes and all purpose sprays.

Dry cloth only on the handles, as metal polish will strip the patina. Keep it clear of radiators and prolonged direct sun, which will lighten the honey tone over years. Check the wall fixings once a year and after any move.

A darker wall behind it, such as deep olive, charcoal or ink blue, makes the contents read as lit objects. Fill it from our crockery and bowls and dishes, and light it from the side with wall lights so the glow passes through the glazed panels.

Does it really have to be wall mounted?

Yes. At 196cm tall on a 40cm footprint and 102kg, it is a tipping risk left freestanding, particularly once the upper shelves are loaded. Brackets are included.

Does it need assembly?

Yes, with instructions included. Given the weight and the glass, allow two people at minimum, or a professional fitter.

How much will the shelves hold?

Each of the six interior shelves is rated to 25kg. Load the heaviest pieces low and the lightest at the top.

Are the shelves adjustable?
