The Avignon brings the proper architectural vocabulary of 18th-century French furniture into a piece that solves a quietly modern problem — the half-moon footprint sits flush against a flat wall, taking only 45cm of depth, while presenting a generous 125cm-wide top to the room. The six turned legs carry vertical channel fluting down their length in the Louis XVI manner, and beneath them the curved X-stretcher meets at a central hub in a sculptural detail that's both structurally clever and visually satisfying. The whole piece is built from solid acacia, hand-finished in a softly aged grey-brown limewash that lets the figured natural grain of the timber show through clearly across the planked top.
