Bring the beauty of the forest indoors
A 90cm faux branch with natural mossy detailing and scattered pinecones, for rustic woodland character without the upkeep of real greenery.
Textured branching and earthy tones give it depth and authenticity, in an arrangement, a wreath, or standing alone in a tall vase. Ideal from autumn through winter, and quietly at home the rest of the year too. Browse all stems and bouquets.
Branches do something flowers cannot. They give a room structure rather than softness, and they never look tired.

Everything you need, one tap away.
The detail that makes it different
Most faux branches are simply bare. This one carries moss and pinecones, which is what makes it read as woodland rather than winter.
The moss is the detail doing the work. It softens the hard line of the branch, catches light differently along its length, and gives the eye texture to read at close range. A bare faux branch looks convincing from across a room and less so up close. Moss is what closes that gap.
The pinecones are scattered rather than evenly placed, which matters more than it sounds. Regularly spaced detail is the fastest way to give away that something is manufactured, because nothing in a wood grows to a rhythm.
The tones are earthy rather than bright: soft greens, browns and the grey-green of dry moss. That palette is why the branch works from September through to February without ever looking specifically Christmassy, and why it sits comfortably in a room the rest of the year if you want it to.
And it is entirely maintenance free. No water, no dropping, no needles on the carpet, and it comes out of the loft next autumn exactly as it went in.
Why you will love it
- Realistic mossy detailing that holds up at close range, not just from across a room
- Scattered pinecones, placed irregularly the way they actually grow
- 90cm of height, tall enough to fill a floor vase or a mantel arrangement
- Earthy tones that work from autumn through winter without reading as Christmas
- Reusable year after year, unlike anything foraged or fresh
- No water, no drop, no mess, which matters over a long season
- Works in three ways: in a vase, in a wreath, or laid along a mantel
- Shapeable branching, so you can open it out to suit the arrangement
Size and placement
A substantial stem rather than a filler. At 90cm it stands alone in a tall vase or a floor vessel, and it is long enough to be cut down for a wreath or a garland with plenty to spare. As a guide, aim for the vessel to be about a third of the total finished height, so a vase of 30cm to 40cm gives balanced proportions.
Tall vases, mantel arrangements, wreaths, garlands and floor vessels.
Odd numbers look natural. One stem or three, rarely two. Three in a wide vessel gives you enough branching to read as a proper arrangement.
Trim from the base with secateurs or strong scissors if you need it shorter. Cut a little at a time, since you cannot put it back.
Three ways to use it
The simplest and often the best. One or three stems in a tall stoneware or ceramic vessel, nothing else on the surface. Turn each stem so the mossiest side faces into the room rather than the wall. See our pots and vases.
Cut into sections and wire into a base, or tuck whole between the greenery of an existing garland to add texture and depth. Moss and pinecones give a plain garland the variation it usually lacks.
Laid horizontally with candles and a few small vessels, which is the arrangement that carries a mantelpiece from October through to January without needing to be changed.
Use it as the structural element and layer softer foliage beneath. Browse faux flowers and greenery for what to pair it with.
How our stylists would use it
Faux stems are packed flat and arrive looking compressed. Spend a few minutes bending the branching outward and downward, opening gaps rather than aiming for symmetry. Nothing in a wood grows evenly.
At 90cm this wants a tall vessel or a mantel, not a coffee table. Something this long in a low bowl looks like it has fallen over.
Earthy green and brown want warm neutrals around them. Off white, oatmeal, clay and mushroom. Against a deep olive wall the moss almost disappears, so a paler background shows it best.
Stoneware, unglazed terracotta, woven baskets and timber. A mossy branch in a highly decorated vase is two things competing for attention.
Warm bulbs at 2400K to 2700K bring out the browns and greens. Cool light turns moss grey, which is exactly what you do not want.
At a glance
Care and honest expectations
Dusting. A soft dry brush or a hairdryer on the cool setting. Moss holds dust more readily than smooth foliage, so it is worth doing before the branch goes on display each autumn rather than only when it comes out.
Never wash it. No water, no cleaning spray, and no damp cloth. Wet moss detailing does not recover its texture.
Storing it. Lay it flat rather than standing it upright in a box where the branching gets crushed. Somewhere dry indoors, not a damp garage or loft.
Loose material is normal. A little moss or the occasional pinecone may work loose in the first weeks or after storage. Both can be tucked back or trimmed.
Light. Bright indirect light keeps the tones truest. Strong all-day sun will lighten any faux botanical over years.
Indoors. A covered porch for an evening is fine, but this is not a weatherproof piece and should not live outside through British weather.
