Brush off crumbs and wipe with a barely damp cloth, then leave to dry flat. Do not soak or put them in the dishwasher.

As a natural material, rattan varies slightly in tone and weave from mat to mat. Use a trivet under very hot dishes, and keep the mats dry and away from direct heat.
