Low, generous cup form, organic-edged saucer, reactive cream-white glaze with russet rim detail — the cup and saucer set built for slow Saturday mornings.

The Lulworth Cups and Saucers are designed for the way most people actually drink tea and coffee at home — generous, unhurried, often with a biscuit alongside. Four reactive stoneware cups in a wide low form with a comfortable curved handle, each paired with a saucer wide enough to take the cup, a biscuit and a small spoon. The reactive cream-white glaze carries the same speckled body and russet edge banding as the wider Lulworth tableware collection, so the set sits naturally alongside the matching dinner plates and bowls. The low, wide cup shape — closer to a café au lait bowl than a fine bone china teacup — holds a proper, generous serving of coffee, tea, hot chocolate or morning broth. A set built for daily use rather than reserved for guests.

The detail that makes it different

Most cup and saucer sets at this price point default to one of two formats — fine, narrow-handled bone china that feels precious to use, or thick mug-style cups bolted onto an afterthought saucer that doesn't really earn its place. The Lulworth takes a different approach. The low, wide cup form is drawn from continental café culture — the kind of cup you'd find on a French breakfast tray rather than an English tea trolley — and the saucer is sized properly, with a subtly organic, hand-finished edge that picks up the wabi-sabi character of the reactive glaze rather than a perfectly machined circle. The handle is generous enough for a full-finger grip rather than the formal pinch of a fine teacup, which matters for the way these will actually be used: morning coffee on the sofa, an afternoon tea on the kitchen table, a slow drink at the end of the day. The russet edge banding and natural speckle through the body make each piece unique within the set.

Part of the Lulworth tableware collection — pair with the matching dinner plates and bowls for a fully resolved table, or use as a daily set alongside any cream and natural-toned ceramic.

Good to know

What's the cup capacity?

The low, wide form holds a generous café-style serving — comfortably enough for a full coffee, a large tea, or a serving of hot chocolate or broth, with room to add milk without filling to the rim. Larger than a standard teacup, smaller and lower than a coffee mug.

Is it safe in the dishwasher and microwave?

Yes — the Lulworth cups and saucers are dishwasher, microwave and food safe. The stoneware is properly fired and the glaze is sealed for daily use. As with any ceramic, avoid extreme temperature changes (taking a piece directly from the freezer to a hot microwave) which can stress the glaze over time.

Will every cup look exactly the same?

No — and that's the appeal. The reactive glaze produces natural variation in tone, speckle and the russet edge banding between pieces, and the saucers' hand-finished organic edge means no two are identical. Expect close consistency in shape and size, but small differences in glaze pattern and silhouette are part of the character rather than a flaw.

Will the cups chip or stain over time?

Stoneware is hardwearing and the sealed glaze resists staining from coffee, tea and other daily drinks. Avoid stacking too heavily, knocking pieces against each other in the dishwasher, or using metal utensils that drag across the glaze. Cared for sensibly, the set holds up across years of daily use.

Can I mix these with other tableware?

Easily — the cream-white and russet palette is neutral enough to pair with most existing tableware schemes. Sits particularly well alongside other natural-toned stoneware, linen napkins, wooden boards and brass or pewter cutlery. For a fully cohesive scheme, build out the rest of the Lulworth collection.
