Will it fit? At 90cm by 60cm it is a generous doorway size, and at just 1cm deep it lies flat and clears the swing of most doors. Check the gap beneath your door if it sits particularly low.

Jute twisted into a continuous rope and braided inward row upon row, so the concentric pattern comes from the making itself. The result is dense, holds its shape and is reversible.

Left undyed, the natural fibre carries soft variations in tone, with small irregularities in the rows and edges, so each mat is slightly different.

Best just inside the door, or under a covered porch. Jute absorbs moisture, so an exposed step in the rain will darken and eventually rot it. On polished stone, tile or sealed wood, use an anti slip underlay.

Vacuum without a rotating beater bar, shake outside regularly and blot spills straight away with a dry cloth. Do not wash, soak or steam clean. Turn it over now and then to even the wear. A little loose fibre early on is normal.

Lay it inside a front door, at the foot of the stairs, in a boot room or across a utility threshold. The undyed jute warms stone flags, painted floorboards, tile and dark painted doors alike.

Can I use it outside?

Under a covered porch is fine, but not on an open, exposed step where rain will reach it.
