Quantock Abstract Framed Canvas
A metre of green abstract wall art, framed and ready to hang. One canvas, one wall, done.
Moss and sage against oat, blush and chalk white, with a single stroke of red that stops the whole thing being polite. 100 x 100cm on a pine frame.
Big art in a small room is not a mistake. Small art in a big room is.
Made for
Everything you need, one tap away.
Why we chose it
Most neutral abstract art is beige and nothing else. This one has a spine.
The greens do the work. Deep moss, sage and olive laid on in broad palette-knife strokes, sitting against soft oat and blush so the contrast reads warm rather than cold. Then that flash of red at the centre right, small enough to be a detail and bright enough to hold your eye. It is the difference between abstract wall art you notice and abstract wall art you stop seeing after a fortnight.
Scale matters too. At 100 x 100cm this is genuinely large square canvas art, not a mid-size piece hoping to look bigger in the photograph. It fills a wall on its own, which is exactly what most rooms need and most people underbuy.
Size and hanging
4.6kg framed. Hang the centre of the canvas at roughly 145cm to 150cm from the floor, which is standard gallery eye level. Above a sofa or console, leave a gap of 20cm to 25cm between the top of the furniture and the bottom of the frame so the two read as one arrangement rather than two separate things.
Wall fixings. At 4.6kg this needs a proper fixing, not a picture hook in plaster. Use a screw into a stud, or a plasterboard anchor rated well above the weight. On masonry, a standard wall plug and screw is plenty.
Orientation. The canvas is square, but the hanging fixture is set for a defined top edge. Hang it as supplied rather than rotating it, or the fixings will sit wrong.
Where it works
The most common home for a 100cm square. Works best above a two or three seater. On a larger four seater, consider hanging it slightly off centre with a lamp or a plant balancing the other side.
A long blank wall is where oversized wall art earns its money. One large canvas beats three small prints every time.
Green abstract art above a sideboard gives a dining room a focal point without the formality of a landscape or a portrait.
The soft neutral base makes this restful enough for a bedroom above the bed, and interesting enough to sit behind you on a video call.
Colours it pairs with
The palette is warm neutral abstract art, so it sits naturally in a quiet luxury interior. Off-white, chalk, mushroom and warm plaster walls all work, and the greens pick up beautifully against them.
Go with it. Sage and olive accents, natural linen, oatmeal upholstery, pale oak and rattan.
Contrast it. Antique brass lighting, dark timber, black metal frames and terracotta. The brass in particular flatters the ochre notes in the paint.
Avoid. Cool grey schemes. The blush and oat tones will read slightly dirty against a blue-grey wall.
Materials and craftsmanship
Canvas. Stretched canvas with genuine texture in the paint surface. The palette-knife ridges catch light differently through the day, which is the thing photographs never quite convey.
Pine frame. A slim solid pine floater frame in a pale natural finish, so the canvas sits just proud of the surround with a shadow line around it. Light enough not to compete with the artwork, defined enough that the piece looks finished rather than raw.
Ready to hang. Framed and fitted with hanging hardware. No mounting, no glazing, no framer's bill.
Small variations in the paint surface are part of how these are made and are not faults.
At a glance
Care
Dust the frame and the canvas surface with a dry soft brush or a clean dry cloth. Never use water, cleaning spray or a damp cloth on canvas.
Keep it out of direct sunlight where you can. Any painted surface will lighten over years of strong sun, and bright indirect light keeps the greens truer for longer.
Avoid hanging directly above a radiator, a wood burner or in a bathroom. Heat and humidity swings will slacken a stretched canvas over time.
