The Ravenglass is the piece that finishes a room. A generous 120cm square canvas stretched over a pine frame, worked in overlapping blocks of deep charcoal, warm taupe, olive-brown and chalk white, with visible brushwork and areas scraped back to the layer beneath. The composition is architectural rather than gestural — upright forms meeting horizontals, some crisply edged, others softened where one tone bleeds into the next — so it holds together from across a room and rewards a closer look. It's a neutral, but not a quiet one: the tonal range runs from near-black to bare white, which gives it far more presence than the pale abstracts it sits alongside.
