Will it suit my bed? A bedside should sit level with the top of your mattress, or within about 5cm. At 50cm this suits a lower bed frame better than a high divan, so measure your mattress top before ordering.

Solid oak and oak veneer, lightly aged to a warm sandy greige, with natural rattan lattice across both drawer fronts.

Gunmetal knobs contrast gently with the oak and rattan. The drawers run on smooth, quiet wooden runners, and the interiors are painted grey, finished inside as well as out.

Rattan. Dust with a soft brush, and never let it get wet.

Oak. Wipe along the grain with a soft dry cloth, and use a coaster for your overnight glass of water. Keep it out of strong sun and away from radiators.

What to expect. Rattan varies in tone across the weave and oak in its grain, so yours won't match the photograph exactly.

A pair either side of the bed looks most complete. Add a lamp 40cm to 50cm tall with a base under 20cm, and a small dish for rings, leaving room for a book and a glass.

Echo the rattan with a woven basket, a mirror or a jute rug, and keep the palette warm with oatmeal, linen and clay.
