A four-door media unit in solid fir, with parquet-patterned door fronts.
Individually laid fir in a geometric parquet formation, on tapered legs with black metal handles.
A media unit is the one piece in a living room almost always chosen for function and almost never for beauty. The parquet fronts are what change that. See all media units.
A television is the least attractive thing in most living rooms. The furniture under it has to work twice as hard.

The measurements, inside and out
45.5kg, with four doors and internal shelving throughout.
Check your kit against 15.5cm of shelf clearance before you order.
The internal clearance is the figure to measure against. 15.5cm between shelves takes a streaming box, a games console laid flat, a soundbar remote and controllers comfortably. A tall AV receiver or a vertically standing console will not fit, so measure the height of anything substantial before ordering.
55cm is the right height for a television. Low enough for a comfortable viewing angle from a sofa, where the centre of the screen wants to sit at roughly eye level when you are seated. A taller unit tips your head back for the whole film.
Your television should be narrower than the unit. At 200cm this comfortably takes a 65 inch screen with space either side, and a 75 inch will still sit within the width. Check the stand feet spacing rather than the screen size, since wide-set feet are what actually overhang.
Allow around 230cm of wall so the piece has a little space at either end, and check the doors have room to open.
The detail that makes it different
The parquet fronts, on a category of furniture that almost never bothers.
Most media units offer flat-fronted doors or a plain wood grain. Here, individually laid fir pieces in a classic geometric formation add an artisanal surface depth that reads as considered from across a room. It is the difference between a piece of furniture and a stand for equipment.
The natural fir tone is warm and lightly textured, with a grain that carries through the parquet pattern, so the unit stays organic rather than looking flat or manufactured.
Black metal handles and tapered legs provide the contemporary contrast, and they are what let the piece sit as comfortably in a modern room as a farmhouse one. Tapered legs also lift a 200cm unit off the floor, which stops a long low piece looking like a block.
Behind the four doors, internal shelving takes the devices and the cables completely out of sight, which is the whole practical argument for a closed media unit over an open one.
Why you will love it
- Parquet-patterned door fronts, individually laid rather than flat or printed
- Four doors, so devices and cabling disappear entirely
- Internal shelving sized for streaming boxes, consoles and controllers
- 55cm high, the right height for viewing from a sofa
- 200cm wide, comfortably taking a 65 inch screen with room either side
- Tapered legs that lift a long low piece off the floor
- Black metal handles, contemporary contrast against warm fir
- Looks like furniture, which almost no media unit manages
How our stylists would use it
A screen dead centre on a 200cm unit leaves two identical empty halves. Sit it slightly off centre and put height at the opposite end, a vase or a tall stem, and the arrangement stops looking like a showroom.
A leaning frame, a stack of books or a low bowl beside the screen softens the hard edge of a television. Keep everything below the height of the screen so nothing competes.
A table lamp at one end does two things: it rakes light across the parquet, which is when the pattern reads best, and it reduces eye strain from watching a bright screen in a dark room.
Warm fir wants warm neutrals. Soft white, oatmeal, clay and mushroom. Against a cool grey wall the timber turns muddy, which matters more on a piece this wide.
A wool or jute rug in front. A long hard-edged unit against a bare floor is the arrangement that makes a living room feel like a waiting room.
At a glance
Care and honest expectations
Dust the parquet with a soft brush as well as a cloth. A laid pattern has more edges and joints than a flat door, and dust settles in the seams where a cloth will not reach.
Wipe spills straight away. Fir is a softwood and marks more readily than oak.
Avoid silicone polishes and all-purpose sprays, which build up and dull a timber finish over time. A soft dry cloth along the grain is all it usually needs.
Mind the ventilation. Devices behind closed doors generate heat, so leave the doors ajar during long gaming sessions or anything that runs hot, and route cables through the back rather than trapping them.
Keep it clear of a radiator and out of prolonged direct sun, which lightens timber unevenly.
What to expect. Grain and tone vary across the parquet because the fir is natural rather than printed, so yours will not match the photograph exactly.
