Will it fit? The 25.5cm dinner plates suit standard cupboard shelves and dishwasher racks, and the 6cm deep bowls are a true everyday size for pasta, soup, curry, cereal or grain bowls.

Glazed earthenware in a soft, cool grey. The reactive glaze runs thin over each raised flute and gathers in the grooves, so the reeding and rim are picked out in a warm gold brown without any applied decoration. From above the plates look almost plain; the texture reveals itself from the side and in the stack.

The plates have a gently raised lip rather than a flat rim, which keeps sauces in place, and the bowls are deep and straight sided.

Food safe, dishwasher safe and microwave safe. Avoid sudden temperature changes and let hot pieces cool before rinsing under cold water. Earthenware is a little more porous than stoneware, so handle rims with care and dry pieces properly before stacking.

The glaze reacts as it fires, so the depth of the gold brown tone varies from piece to piece and even around a single plate. A later set may differ slightly between production batches.

Set it on bare timber or natural linen and let the texture do the work. Add a second set to extend the table to eight, and layer with serving pieces for a table that looks gathered over time.
