The console table that looks like it has always been there
Weathered reclaimed pine, turned balustrade legs, three drawers, and character that only grows with age.
One of those rare rustic console tables that works everywhere without trying. The natural knots, grain variations and weathered patina mean every Augustine is entirely its own, and it arrives looking as though it has already earned its place in your home.
A hallway console with drawers is worth twice one without. Somewhere to put things down is easy. Somewhere to put things away is the hard part.

The detail that makes it different
The balustrade legs are the Augustine's signature, and the reason it does not read as another reclaimed wood console.
Turned rather than plain, they give the piece a sculptural quality that rewards a closer look, and a classic farmhouse character that sits as comfortably in a contemporary hallway as in a traditional country interior without ever feeling like a period pastiche.
Three generous drawers handle the everyday reality of family life without showing it. Keys, post, remotes and daily essentials disappear completely, while the surface above stays free for the things worth looking at. A lamp, a vase, a mirror above. This is the detail most consoles miss entirely, and it is the difference between a hallway table that stays styled and one that ends up buried by Wednesday.
Then the timber. Weathered reclaimed pine brings a depth of grain, warm amber tone and honest imperfection that new wood cannot replicate, and it gets more beautiful with every passing year as the patina deepens.
Part of the Augustine collection. Pair it with the matching Augustine coffee table in the same reclaimed pine finish for a cohesive interior. Available with 0% interest-free finance.
Why you will love it
- Three generous drawers, so clutter goes away rather than just moving somewhere else
- Turned balustrade legs that give the piece a sculptural quality plain posts cannot
- Weathered reclaimed pine with grain, knots and patina no new timber can replicate
- Low shelf beneath with 54cm of clearance, which takes generous baskets
- Only 45cm deep, so it suits hallways that will not take a sideboard
- 90cm height, comfortable as a serving surface and clear of most sofa backs
- Marks blend in rather than standing out against a pristine finish
- Part of a collection, so the coffee table and other pieces can follow
- Genuinely unique, since no two pieces of reclaimed pine are the same
Size and what fits
Allow 160cm of clear wall as a minimum and ideally 180cm so the piece has breathing space at either end. In a hallway, keep at least 90cm of walking room in front. At 45cm deep it is noticeably slimmer than a sideboard, which is exactly why it works in a corridor.
The drawers. 21cm high, which takes post, gloves, chargers, dog leads and the small things that otherwise cover a hallway surface. Deep enough to be useful, not so deep that things get lost at the back.
The lower shelf. The shelf sits 9cm off the floor with its top surface at 16cm, and there is 54cm of clearance between the shelf and the underside of the drawers. That is a genuinely useful figure: it means large woven baskets fit underneath rather than the small ones most consoles restrict you to. Measure your baskets against 54cm before buying them.
The route in. At 160cm, check doorway widths, hallway turns and stairwell corners before ordering. Tell us your access route and we will work it through with you.
How our stylists would dress it
On 160cm, spreading things evenly reads as arranged rather than considered. A lamp and a small tray at one end, a cluster of ceramics and foliage at the other, and the middle left relatively clear so there is somewhere to actually put things down.
A pair of matching table lamps at either end frames the piece and gives a hallway a low warm welcome in the evening. If space is tight, one lamp off centre with a wall light above works just as well. Warm bulbs of 2400K to 2700K, as cool light flattens a weathered finish completely.
A large mirror doubles the light in a hallway and gives you somewhere to check yourself on the way out. Hang so the bottom edge sits 20cm to 25cm above the surface. A run of three smaller pieces of art works equally well.
Two large baskets beat six small objects every time. With 54cm of clearance you have room for generous ones, which take shoes, gloves and dog paraphernalia entirely out of view.
Weathered pine reads warm and mid toned, so soft white, oatmeal, putty and mushroom all let the timber lead. For depth, deep olive, sage or soft charcoal behind it gives a hallway real drama. Avoid cool grey and stark brilliant white, which drain the warmth from reclaimed timber.
A long runner echoes the horizontal of the console and makes a narrow corridor read considerably wider than it is.
Not only a hallway piece
The Augustine is hugely popular as a hallway console, but the proportions suit several other jobs.
Behind a sofa. At 90cm it clears most sofa backs, giving you a surface for lamps and defining a seating zone in an open plan room where there are no walls to do it.
In a dining room. A serving surface at a comfortable height, with linens and cutlery in the drawers and a display surface the rest of the year.
In a bedroom. At 45cm deep it makes a generous dressing table along a long wall, with three drawers already doing the work.
Against a feature wall. In a living room it anchors artwork above and baskets below without projecting into the room.
Materials and craftsmanship
Reclaimed pine. A softwood with an open, expressive grain, which is exactly why it takes patination so well. Decades of previous use leave a depth of colour and knot structure no kiln process replicates. Being softwood it marks more readily than oak, and on a weathered finish that is a feature rather than a problem.
Turned balustrade legs. Shaped individually rather than pressed or moulded, giving them a depth of profile that machine alternatives never quite match.
Three drawers and a lower shelf. Closed storage for the mess, open storage for the things worth seeing. It is the configuration that makes a hallway piece genuinely work.
Due to the handmade nature of this piece, each one differs slightly and is designed to have natural imperfections. These are to be embraced rather than avoided, and they are the reason the Augustine looks collected rather than bought.

Care and honest expectations
Everyday care. Dust along the grain with a soft dry cloth and wipe spills promptly rather than letting them sit. Reclaimed pine is more absorbent than a lacquered new-wood surface.
Use coasters under anything wet, and mats under anything hot. Scratches blend into a weathered finish beautifully. Water rings are the one thing that does not.
Refresh with wax. A clear furniture wax once or twice a year nourishes the timber and deepens the tone. Avoid silicone polishes and all purpose sprays, which build up and dull the surface.
Placement. Keep it clear of a radiator where you can, since prolonged dry heat is harder on solid timber than anything else in a normal home.
What to expect. Reclaimed pine moves slightly with the seasons and the finish continues to develop. Marks accumulate and, on a piece like this, add to it. If you want a surface that stays exactly as it arrived, reclaimed timber is the wrong choice.
