The Brass Swing-Arm Floor Lamp — a tall, slim aged-brass stem with a pivoting horizontal arm and a wide all-metal cone shade — a properly functional reading lamp dressed in mid-century library elegance.
This floor lamp brings something most decorative floor lamps quietly forget — a genuine functional move. The horizontal arm pivots on a brass joint, swinging up to 46cm out from the stem, so the cone shade can be positioned directly over the shoulder of someone reading in an armchair, then swung back against the stem when not in use. The all-metal cone shade is the other half of the equation: solid brass top and bottom, no fabric, with a small reflector cone visible inside the shade — directing light straight downward in a controlled beam rather than diffusing it sideways. The result is a fixture that lights a book properly without lighting the whole room.

The fixture sits firmly in the lineage of mid-century library lamps — the Stiffel and Hansen brass reading lamps of the 1950s and 60s, where the engineering of the swing arm was treated as part of the visible design rather than something to hide. The aged brass finish is warm and slightly burnished across stem, base, arm and shade, so all the metal reads as a single material throughout. At 167cm tall it stands at the right height to position over the shoulder of a seated reader; the weighted circular base keeps the lamp stable even with the arm fully extended. Two E27 bulbs hidden inside the shade give a generous 120W combined output — task-bright when reading, warm and ambient when dimmed.
