Why 60cm? Most side tables sit around 45cm, below the arm of a chair. At 60cm the Coleford meets the arm, so everything is at hand without leaning. It needs only a 48cm square of floor.

As a seat. It is taller than a dining seat, so it works best as an occasional perch rather than everyday seating.

Solid elm throughout, with an open, expressive grain and a warmth that veneer or turned pine cannot match.

Three splayed legs with a cross stretcher, built with traditional joinery rather than fixings, which is why a table this narrow does not rock. The round top has no corners at shin height.

It arrives fully assembled, ready to place.

Dust along the grain with a soft dry cloth and wipe spills promptly. Use a coaster or tray under drinks, avoid silicone polishes and all-purpose sprays, and keep it away from radiators. In a bathroom, keep it clear of direct splashing.

Elm grain and tone vary naturally, so yours will have its own pattern.

Place it beside an armchair with a small lamp and a book. Use it as a plant stand so a trailing plant can fall properly, as a compact bedside table, or beside the bath with towels and a candle.
