The Aldbury is our most sculptural faux tree. A deluxe 210cm black olive tree, built around a slim, naturally textured trunk that lifts a layered canopy of fine branches and small, softly glossy leaves well above eye level. Where most artificial trees mass their foliage into a single dome, the black olive grows in tiers — flat, outstretched branches set at intervals up the trunk, with clear space between them. The effect is airy rather than heavy: a tree you can see through, that casts a delicate shadow and reads as considered rather than filled-in. It arrives in a plain black nursery pot, ready to lower straight into a planter or basket of your choosing.

The detail that makes it different
Height is easy to buy; proportion is not. At 210cm the Aldbury clears the back of a sofa and draws the eye up a wall, but the black olive's narrow trunk and open, tiered branching mean it does that without swallowing the floor space around it. The branches are wired, so each tier can be eased outward, dropped or angled to suit its corner, and the slight irregularity between layers is what keeps it from looking manufactured. The trunk carries genuine surface texture and colour variation from base to crown. It needs no light, no water and no seasonal care, which makes it the answer for the darker corners and north-facing rooms where a real tree of this scale would slowly give up.

Does it come with the pot shown in the styled image?
No — the tree is supplied in a plain black plastic nursery pot, as shown in the product image. The ceramic planter in our styled photograph is sold separately. The nursery pot is designed to sit inside a decorative planter or basket, so there's no repotting involved: simply lower it in and top with bark chips or moss to conceal the rim.
What size planter do I need?
Choose a planter with an internal opening slightly wider than the nursery pot and a similar or greater depth, so the tree sits level and the rim disappears. At 210cm the tree carries a substantial floor planter well — a tall, generous shape looks better in proportion than a shallow one.
Will it look right straight out of the box?
The branches are compressed for transit, so allow a few minutes to open it out. Work from the lowest tier upward, easing each branch outward and letting the leaf clusters fan rather than sit flat. Stagger the tiers slightly rather than aligning them and the tree immediately reads as natural.
Is this the same as a classic olive tree?
No. The black olive is a different tree altogether, named for its small dark fruit rather than for any relation to the Mediterranean olive. Expect small, rounded, glossy green leaves and flat, tiered branching rather than the narrow silver-green foliage and gnarled trunk of a classic olive. Where should I put it?
Anywhere a real tree would struggle — a hallway, a stairwell, a dark corner, beside a fireplace or against a panelled or plain wall where the branch silhouette can be seen. It needs no daylight, though we'd suggest keeping it out of prolonged, direct sun to preserve the depth of the foliage colour.
How do I care for it?
No watering, feeding or seasonal care. Dust the foliage occasionally with a soft cloth, a feather duster or a light puff of compressed air, and wipe the trunk with a barely damp cloth. Reshape the branches once or twice a year to keep the tiers open.
