The lamp that earns its place the moment it is switched on
Handwoven rattan, a linen drum shade, and a glow that makes any room feel genuinely warm.
There is a quality of light only a well-chosen table lamp produces. Filtered, amber, unhurried. At 84cm tall the Bali is generous enough to anchor a console, a side table or a nightstand with real presence. Browse all table lamps.
Overhead light makes a room visible. A lamp makes it somewhere you want to sit.

The detail that makes it different
The handwoven rattan base is the Bali's defining quality, and it does something ceramic and resin bases cannot.
The weave catches light across its surface, creating subtle shadow and depth that makes the lamp look considered from every angle, switched on or off. That matters more than people expect on a table lamp, because it spends most of the day unlit and still has to earn its place on the surface.
The linen drum shade diffuses light beautifully. No harsh edges, no concentrated brightness, just the warm even glow that transforms a room from lit to atmospheric. Linen has enough weave irregularity to soften a bulb without dimming it, and it warms the tone of the light as it passes through.
Rattan and linen together coordinate naturally with terracotta, natural wood, woven textures and warm neutral palettes, which makes this one of the most versatile lamps in the collection. Equally at home in a coastal living room, a farmhouse bedroom or a contemporary entryway that needs a moment of natural warmth.
Why you will love it
- Handwoven rattan base with texture and warmth no ceramic or resin can match
- Looks good unlit, which is how a lamp spends most of its day
- Linen drum shade for a soft even glow rather than a hot spot
- 84cm tall, generous enough to actually read on a console or a side table
- 47.5cm shade casting a wide pool rather than a narrow one
- Neutral natural tone that sits with terracotta, timber and warm neutrals
- Light for its size, since rattan is a fraction of the weight of ceramic
- Works in pairs, either side of a bed or at both ends of a console
Size and where it fits
This is a tall lamp, so measure before ordering. At 84cm it stands roughly the height of a kitchen worktop off the surface it sits on, which is why it reads properly on a long console where a smaller lamp would disappear. The 47.5cm shade needs a surface of at least 45cm depth so it does not overhang.
Consoles, sideboards, generous side tables and taller bedside tables.
On a bedside table. Aim for the bottom of the shade to sit near shoulder height when you are sitting up in bed. At 84cm this suits a lower bedside table of around 45cm to 55cm. On a taller nightstand it may sit above your eyeline.
On a console. This is where the height genuinely pays. A pair at either end of a 160cm or 210cm console frames the piece and gives a hallway a low warm welcome in the evening.
Total height matters. Add the lamp to the surface it sits on. On a 90cm console the top of the shade reaches 174cm, which is roughly eye level for most people, so make sure there is nothing hanging directly above it.
Choosing the right bulb
This matters more than anything else on the page, because the bulb decides what the light actually feels like.
2700K. A warm-toned bulb is what brings out the natural warmth of the rattan and the linen. Anything cooler makes woven fibre look grey and turns the shade clinical, which is the most common reason a beautiful lamp disappoints once it is home.
A 47.5cm shade casts a generous pool, so this works as a primary light source on a side table rather than a token one. If you read by it, go a step brighter but keep the warmth.
A dimmable LED with a compatible dimmer, or a smart bulb, gives you a lamp that works for reading and for atmosphere from the same fitting.
If you buy two, use identical bulbs. Two different colour temperatures either side of a bed is immediately visible and looks like a mistake.
How our stylists would use it
The rule we work to. A table lamp, something low, and an overhead you rarely switch on. A single ceiling fitting is what makes a living room feel like an office in the evening.
Symmetry is what makes a console or a bedroom look considered. Two matching lamps give you warm light from two points rather than one, which is far more flattering than a single source.
Rattan is textural, so pair it with something glazed and something matt. A ceramic vessel from pots and vases, a stack of books, and a tray to hold the small things.
Natural rattan wants warm neutrals. Off white, oatmeal, clay, mushroom and warm plaster. Against a deeper olive or charcoal wall the weave reads beautifully as silhouette. Cool grey drains it.
At 84cm plus the height of the surface, this lamp is tall. Check what is hanging above before you place it, or you will be adjusting the shade every time you walk past.
Materials and craftsmanship
Handwoven rattan base. A natural fibre woven by hand over a gently curved profile, which is considerably harder than weaving a straight cylinder. The weave density and tone vary slightly from piece to piece, which is what tells you it is genuinely handmade.
Linen drum shade. Chosen for how it handles light rather than for pattern. Linen softens the bulb and warms the tone as it passes through, where a glass or metal shade would give you a hard edge.
The proportions. A 47.5cm shade on an 84cm lamp is a deliberately generous ratio. It is what stops the piece looking top heavy and what gives you the wide pool of light.
Small variations in weave and tone are characteristic of hand-woven natural fibre and are not faults. If you are buying a pair, order them together so they come from the same batch.
At a glance
Care and honest expectations
The rattan. Dust with a soft dry brush, working into the weave rather than across it. A vacuum with a brush attachment on a gentle setting works well. Never soak it, and keep it away from persistent damp.
The shade. A soft dry brush, a lint roller or a hairdryer on the cool setting. Never water or cleaning spray on a linen shade, as it marks permanently.
Loose fibres. Hand-woven natural fibre may shed the odd strand early on. Trim with scissors rather than pulling.
Light and colour. Direct sunlight will lighten rattan over years, evenly rather than in patches. Bright indirect light keeps the tone truest.
Placement. Indoor use only. Not one for a bathroom or a conservatory that gets condensation, as humidity softens natural fibre over time.
