Large Faux Berry Eucalyptus Stem
A 107cm faux berry eucalyptus stem that fills an empty vase the way nothing else does. Sculptural, bare-branched, and quietly green.
Most artificial stems try to be a bouquet. This one is a branch. Clusters of olive-green berries scattered along fine woody stems, with the open, uncrowded shape of something actually cut from a garden. It reads real from across the room and it never needs water.
One stem in a tall vessel says more than five stems in a short one. Give it height and give it space.
Made for
Why we chose this piece
The berries are the point. Not the leaves, not the fullness, not the price. The berries.
Faux botanicals live or die on one detail, and with berry stems it is the surface of the fruit. Cheap versions are uniformly glossy, uniformly coloured and uniformly round, which is what makes them read as plastic from three metres away. On this stem the berries vary. Some are soft olive, some tip towards ochre, some carry a darker crown at the tip where the calyx has dried back. A few catch the light and a few do not.
The second thing we looked for was branch structure. This stem branches the way a real one does, sparsely and asymmetrically, with long bare runs between berry clusters. That negative space is what stops an arrangement looking manufactured. It is also what makes a single stem enough.
Why you will love it
It solves the tall empty vase
Almost every home has one. A generous floor vase or a wide-mouthed jar that looks wrong with short stems and worse with nothing. At 107cm this fills that gap in a single purchase.
It is green without being seasonal
The olive tone sits comfortably in a room all year. It leans autumnal in September and reads simply botanical in May, so you are not storing it for nine months of the twelve.
No upkeep at all
No water, no dropped petals, no scent, no wilting after a fortnight. Useful if the piece lives somewhere you do not pass every day, like a hallway, a stairwell landing or a second home.
It works alone
The branching is wide enough that one stem reads as a full arrangement. Three gives you a lush, layered look, but one is a legitimate choice rather than a compromise.
The berry eucalyptus story
Eucalyptus arrived in British floristry relatively late and then took over completely, largely because it does something most foliage cannot. It holds its colour as it dries. Florists loved it, brides loved it, and by the 2010s it was in every arrangement in the country.
The berried varieties are the quieter members of that family. Instead of the familiar silvery discs of foliage, they carry clusters of small round gum nuts along bare woody stems. Less soft, more structural, and much more interesting once the leaves are stripped back. It is the version florists reach for when they want architecture rather than softness.
That is what we have translated here. A stem chosen for shape and for the honesty of its colour rather than for how much it fills the hand.
Size and placement
A single generous length. As a rough guide, aim for the vessel to be about a third of the total finished height, so a vase between 30cm and 45cm tall gives balanced proportions. In a floor vase the stem can be left full length. On a console or a dining table, trim from the base to bring the finished height down to something you can see over.
Tall floor vases, entryway consoles, and any corner that needs height rather than bulk.
Odd numbers look natural. One stem or three, rarely two.
How to style it
The single statement
One stem, one stoneware or glazed ceramic vase, nothing else on the surface. This is the most restrained option and the hardest to get wrong. Turn the stem so the widest branching faces into the room rather than the wall.
The layered arrangement
Three berry stems as the structural backbone, then softer faux foliage filled in below to hide the mechanics. The berries sit above the mass and give the whole thing an outline.
The floor vase
Full length, in a tall vessel, placed beside a fireplace or in the dead corner of a landing. Give it 30cm of clearance from the wall so the branches are not pressed flat.
Seasonal shifts
Left green it is a year-round piece. Add dried grasses in autumn or a few pale stems in winter and it moves with the season without needing replacing.

Interior styles it suits
Quiet luxury
Against off-white, mushroom and warm plaster walls, olive green is one of the few colours that adds life without adding noise. This is where the stem sits most naturally.
Modern rustic and farmhouse
The bare woody branching suits stoneware, reclaimed timber and anything hand-thrown. Pair it with a rough-glazed jar rather than glass.
Contemporary and minimal
In a pared-back room a single sculptural stem does the work of an artwork. Keep the vessel plain and let the silhouette carry it.
Period and traditional
On a panelled hallway console or beside an open fire, a tall branch reads as something brought in from the garden, which is exactly the effect older houses want.
Materials and craftsmanship
Hand-finished berries. The variation in tone across the fruit is applied rather than moulded in, which is why the colour reads as depth rather than as a single flat green. Small differences between stems are part of that process.
Structured branching. The stem holds its shape without support, so it stands upright in a wide-mouthed vessel rather than slumping to one side.
Cut to length. The main stem can be trimmed from the base with secateurs or heavy scissors to suit your vase. Cut a little at a time. You cannot put it back.
Because these are hand-finished, no two stems are identical. If you are buying three for a single arrangement, that variation works in your favour.
At a glance
Care and honest expectations
Two honest notes. First, strong direct sunlight will lift the colour of any faux botanical over time, so a spot with bright indirect light will keep the green truer for longer. Second, this is an interior piece. It can sit under a covered porch for an evening, but it is not made to live outdoors through British weather.
Do not wash it or wipe it with anything damp. Dust is the only maintenance it needs, and a dry soft brush handles it in under a minute.
