The Rayan — a wall-mounted swing-arm reading lamp in dark bronze metal with a natural linen drum shade — adjustable, articulated and properly considered, the kind of light that earns its place over a bedside or a reading chair.
The Rayan brings the most useful detail wall sconces typically miss — a fully articulated two-pivot swing arm that lets the light go exactly where the reader needs it. The arm pivots both at the square wall plate and at the central elbow joint, so the shade can be drawn close for reading in bed, swung wide across a reading chair, or pushed flat against the wall when not in use. Extended at full reach, the arm spans 60cm — generous enough to position the light exactly above an open book or laptop. Folded against the wall, the lamp tucks neatly out of the way, returning the wall to a clean architectural surface.

The dark bronze metalwork against the natural linen drum shade is the material pairing that gives the Rayan its specific character — the deep, almost-black tone of the bronze grounds the warmer, slubby flax-coloured linen, while the contrasting buff piping that runs around the top and bottom edges of the shade gives the soft cylinder a clean finished line where the cloth meets the air. The linen weave diffuses light into a soft warm glow rather than a harsh spotlight — exactly the quality reading-light should have, where the page is illuminated without flooding the room.
