The Dixie — a long, low console table built from solid reclaimed pine, with a live-edge timber top supported by two boldly tapered conical legs. Substantial 1.84m proportions with a quietly sculptural, hand-hewn quality, sized for hallways, behind a sofa, or as a sculptural statement piece against a long wall.
The Dixie brings the kind of raw, hand-hewn detail that lifts a console table above standard machine-finished alternatives — the entire piece is built from solid reclaimed pine, with the cracks, knots, saw marks and tonal variation of its previous life left visible across both the top and the legs, the same material vocabulary as the wabi-sabi Japanese aesthetic and the salvaged-timber furniture of contemporary makers like Axel Vervoordt and Roman & Williams. The top is finished with a true live edge — left rough and irregular along the long edges where the slab follows the natural contour of the original board — while the two cone-shaped legs taper outward from narrow tops to wide stable bases, a sculptural silhouette closer to a piece of pottery or a primitive grain mortar than standard furniture turning. The whole console reads as something found rather than made.
What sets it apart
The detail that makes it different
The conical legs are the move that gives the Dixie its specific character — most reclaimed-wood console tables are built on simple square or trestle bases, a configuration that reads as straightforwardly rustic and tends to produce farmhouse furniture that looks the same from one piece to the next. The bold cone-shaped pedestals turn the console's structure into a sculptural element in its own right, casting strong shadow lines across the floor and giving the piece a sense of weight and gravity that thin spindle legs cannot match. The pairing of a primitive live-edge slab with two precise geometric cones is the design tension that holds the whole thing together — rough timber and pure geometry, sitting in conversation rather than agreement, like a Donald Judd plinth crossed with a foraged log.
Part of the reclaimed-pine family — pairs naturally with our wider collection of salvaged-timber dining tables, benches and accent pieces for a coordinated scheme of raw, hand-hewn furniture across hallway, dining and living spaces.
