Hambledon Two-Handled Vase | White Crackle Glaze Stoneware

Will it fit? A generous mantel or windowsill size rather than a bud vase. The 10.5cm opening and flared neck hold tall, upright stems together without arranging.

Stoneware with a white crackle glaze, a fine web of lines that catches the light and gives the white a softened depth. Two looped handles sit at the shoulder in the manner of an ancient Greek amphora, and small foam pads on the base protect the surface beneath.

The crackle forms differently on every piece, so no two vases share the same pattern of lines.

It takes fresh stems and water, but stoneware is porous, so we cannot guarantee it will stay fully watertight over time. Always stand it on a coaster, placemat or cloth, and check underneath from time to time.

Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry afterwards. Empty and rinse between uses rather than leaving water standing. Avoid soaking, dishwashers and abrasive cleaners, which can work into a crackle glaze.

Fill it with narcissi, tulips, alliums or long branches, or leave it empty on a mantel or windowsill as a sculptural piece. For shorter or heavier blooms, a florist's frog or a little chicken wire in the neck gives them support. The softened white sits well with limewash, linen and deep green alike.

What stems suit it?

Tall, upright stems work best: narcissi, tulips, alliums, delphiniums, grasses or long branches.

Will each vase look the same?

No. The crackle forms its own pattern as it cools, so every vase is subtly different.

Is it dishwasher safe?

No. Wipe with a damp cloth and dry, and avoid soaking and abrasive cleaners.
