The Alverton salad plates are the second layer of a well-set table. Four 22cm ceramic plates in a clean, even white, each edged with a close row of small raised beads around a gently irregular rim. It's the useful in-between size: bigger than a side plate, smaller than a dinner plate, so it takes a starter, a salad, a substantial pudding or a light lunch without anything looking lost on it. Used alone they hold the table on their own; layered over the matching 28cm dinner plates they make a place setting look composed with nothing else added. Food, dishwasher and microwave safe throughout.

Most ranges treat the smaller plate as the plain junior version of the main one. The Alverton salad plate carries exactly the same beaded rim and clean white glaze as the dinner plate, at a scale where the beading sits closer and reads as finer still. That matters because this is the plate that gets used most: pudding, a starter, cheese, breakfast, a sandwich at lunchtime. The coupe shape with no flat rim means the whole surface is usable, the softly wavering outline stops the stack looking machine-pressed, and the white lifts whatever's on it. Bought with the dinner plates you have a full setting for four; bought alone they'll mix happily with tableware you already own.
