The Marrakesh is one of those rare decorative pots where the surface itself is the design. Hand-hammered in India from solid aluminium and finished in a deep antique bronze with flashes of warm gold catching the light, every facet of the surface has been worked individually with a punch tool to create the dense, repeating pattern of indentations that runs over the whole body. The squat bulbous silhouette tapers gently to a small opening at the top — closer in spirit to a North African water vessel than a conventional vase.

The hand-worked surface is the Marrakesh's signature — most metal pots at this scale arrive with a flat machined finish or a printed pattern that reads as decorative wallpaper rather than craft. The Marrakesh's texture is the real thing: each indentation made one at a time by hand, leaving the slight irregularity in spacing and depth that machine work cannot replicate. Light catches differently across every dimple, the bronze patina pools and varies across the body, and the gold flashes appear and disappear depending on the angle.

The pot works equally well empty or filled — empty as a sculptural object on a sideboard, mantelpiece or low shelf where the surface detail can be properly seen, or filled with dried grasses, pampas, branches or stems of dried wheat where the dark bronze tone makes the textures of the foliage stand out. The 30cm scale is generous enough to anchor a side table or fireplace surround on its own, without needing a styled grouping to make sense.
