Will it fit? At 80cm by 50cm it properly covers a doorway, and at just 1cm high it lies flat and clears the swing of most doors. Check the gap beneath your door if it sits particularly low.

Handwoven from hard wearing natural seagrass, which is tough and slightly waxy, so it resists dirt working into the fibre and shakes out easily.

Being handwoven, the stripes sit at irregular intervals and the seagrass carries natural tonal variation, so each mat is slightly different.

For indoor use, just inside the door. Seagrass takes up moisture, so an exposed outdoor step will darken and eventually rot it. On polished boards, tile or sealed stone, use an anti slip underlay, as it is a light mat.

Shake it outside regularly, hoover without a rotating beater bar, and blot spills straight away with a dry cloth. Do not wash, soak or steam clean. A little loose fibre early on is normal and settles with hoovering.

Lay it just inside the front or back door, in a boot room or at the foot of the stairs. Quiet enough for a pale hallway, with more character than plain jute or coir.

Can I use it outside?
