Brancaster Lidded Seagrass Baskets

Will it fit? Both heights include the domed lid, so measure against the full height if they are going under a shelf, and leave room to set a lid down beside the basket. They do not nest, so plan for two footprints. Side by side, allow around 85cm of floor.

Natural, undyed seagrass is woven over a rattan frame that gives the baskets their structure. The honey and straw tones have darker flecks where individual strands vary, so no two baskets are quite the same.

The domed lids rise to a small finial, and the looped side handles are woven into the body, making a full basket easy to carry.

Dust the weave with a soft brush or a vacuum with a brush attachment on low. For marks, use a barely damp cloth and dry straight away. Do not soak.

For indoor use only. In a bathroom, keep them well ventilated and away from splashes. Do not sit on the lids, as they are not designed to take weight. Line them for fine knitwear or linen, as the weave can catch. Tone varies across the weave and between the two baskets, and the weave settles slightly with use.

Set them side by side, slightly offset, at the end of a bed from our beds collection or beside a sofa, with a wool or jute rug from our rugs collection underneath.

Warm neutrals such as oatmeal, clay and off white bring out the honey tones. Add a plant from our potted plants and trees collection nearby.

Do they nest inside each other?

No. The smaller is 31cm across and the larger 40cm, so plan for two separate footprints.

Are they good for laundry?

Yes. The large basket is roughly the size of a standard hamper, and the lid keeps everything out of sight. Keep it somewhere ventilated.

Can I sit on the lids?

No. The domed lids are not designed to take weight.

Will the two match exactly?

Close, but seagrass is natural and undyed, so the tone varies across the weave and between the two.
