The Ashton Reclaimed Pine Console Table
The reclaimed pine console that gets more beautiful every year. Hand-carved spindle legs, two drawers, and a character no new wood can replicate.
Over two metres wide, with a lower open shelf and a distressed weathered finish that deepens rather than fades. See the full console tables and sideboards range.
The Ashton does not try to look like it has a story. It already has one.

The detail that makes it different
Reclaimed timber is common. Hand-carved spindle legs on reclaimed timber are not.
What lifts the Ashton above a standard reclaimed wood console is the leg detailing. Turned spindle uprights, carved rather than machined flat, in a category where most pieces settle for straight timber and a rustic coat of paint. It is the detail that rewards a closer look, and the reason this reads as farmhouse craftsmanship rather than farmhouse styling.
Then the wood itself. Every piece carries the marks, knots and weathering of timber that has already lived a life. No two Ashtons are the same. The distressed finish deepens with age rather than fading with it, which makes this one of the few pieces of furniture that genuinely improves across the years you own it.
Crafted from sustainably sourced reclaimed pine. An eco-conscious choice that gives beautiful wood a second life and sits lightly on the planet.
Storage that disappears into the design
Two spacious drawers glide smoothly and swallow the everyday clutter. Keys, post, remotes, sunglasses, the things that collect on a hallway surface and ruin it. The top above them stays clear for styling.
The lower open shelf adds a second tier without closing the piece in. A woven basket from our baskets and storage range, a trailing plant, a stack of books, or simply left empty so the spindle legs stay visible.
That combination is what makes the Ashton work in a hallway specifically. Closed storage for the mess, open storage for the things worth seeing.
Size and placement
This is a substantial piece. At over two metres wide it holds a wall with quiet authority, and it needs a wall that can take it. Measure your run of wall and allow at least 20cm of clear space at each end so it does not look wedged in. The 85cm height sits above most sofa backs, which makes it a good candidate for floating behind seating in an open-plan room.
Long hallways, generous living rooms, dining rooms and open-plan spaces.
Access matters at this width. Check doorways, stairwell turns and hallway corners before ordering. Two metres is fine through a standard front door but tight around a tight landing.
Depth. At 50.5cm it is deep enough to be useful and shallow enough for a hallway. Allow 90cm of clear floor in front so drawers open comfortably.
How to style it
Work in three zones across the top rather than spreading things evenly. A tall element at one end, a low grouping in the middle, negative space at the other. Symmetry on a console this long tends to look staged.
A table lamp or a tall stem in a vase gives the eye somewhere to start. Aim for something roughly half the console height again.
A large mirror or a piece of art anchors the console to the wall. Hang it so the bottom edge sits 20cm to 25cm above the tabletop.
Two baskets at either end, or one and a plant, is plenty. A packed lower shelf loses the spindle legs entirely, which are the reason you bought it.
A runner from our rugs range under a hallway console stops the space feeling hard and echoey.
Interior styles it suits
The Ashton is particularly beautiful in farmhouse, rustic, cottage, French country and contemporary country interiors, which is where the spindle legs and reclaimed grain feel most at home.
It travels further than that though. Against a modern painted wall it provides the warmth and texture that new furniture struggles to give a room, and in a period property it reads as something that could have been there for decades.
The one pairing to think carefully about is a very high-gloss, cool-toned scheme. Reclaimed pine is warm and matt by nature, and it wants a warm neutral wall behind it rather than a cool grey.
Materials and craftsmanship
Reclaimed pine. Sustainably sourced timber given a second life. Knots, nail marks, saw scores and grain variation are the record of that first life and are not defects.
Distressed weathered finish. Applied by hand, so depth and tone vary across every piece and between pieces. It settles and deepens with use rather than wearing thin.
Hand-carved spindle legs. Turned uprights rather than plain posts, and the single detail that separates this from every other reclaimed console on the market.
Two drawers and a lower shelf. Drawers run smoothly and the shelf is fixed as part of the frame rather than an add-on.
Because this is reclaimed timber, your Ashton will not look identical to the photographs. The character shown is representative. Yours will have its own.
At a glance
Care and honest expectations
Everyday care. Dust with a dry soft cloth. Wipe spills straight away rather than letting them sit, as reclaimed timber is more absorbent than a lacquered new-wood surface.
Avoid. Silicone polishes, all-purpose sprays and anything abrasive. They will lift the distressed finish unevenly.
Placement. Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from a radiator. Dry heat and solid timber are a poor combination over years.
What to expect. Reclaimed pine moves slightly with the seasons and the finish will continue to develop. Small marks accumulate and, on a piece like this, add to it rather than detract. If you want a surface that stays exactly as it arrived, reclaimed timber is the wrong choice.
