Will it fit? The handles make it 35cm wide, so check the depth of a narrow console. At 12kg empty, make sure your surface can take the weight. It also stands beautifully on the floor.

The wide mouth takes a full bunch. Aim for stems of around 60cm above the rim.

Dense, thick stoneware, fired at high temperature, with a deep brown glaze that pools and varies across the surface.

Two handles, one on each side, give it the character of an olive jar. Glaze tone varies from piece to piece. For indoor use.

Hand wash with warm soapy water and a bottle brush. For residue inside, swirl warm water with a spoonful of dry rice. Stand it on a saucer or tray the first time you fill it with water, in case the base seeps.

Lift it with both hands, from the base if full, and use a mat on timber surfaces.

Let it be the one dark note in a pale room. Fill it with pampas, dried grasses or large faux stems, or leave it empty. Place it on the floor beside a fireplace, or on a pale console against an off-white wall.

It suits modern country, rustic and Mediterranean interiors.
