Will it fit? Allow a room of roughly 370 x 220cm, with at least 60cm of clearance on every side and ideally 90cm where people walk behind. It is a large piece, so check doorways, stairwells and tight turns before ordering.

Chairs. Pair it with a seat height of 45cm to 50cm, and allow 60cm of table edge per person. A bench fits along either side.

100% reclaimed pine, not new timber distressed to look old. Decades of previous use have left a depth of colour and knot structure that no new timber can replicate.

Hand-distressed finish, applied piece by piece, so the wear never repeats and no two tables are identical.

Trestle base in the same reclaimed pine, with no central legs, so chairs slide fully underneath and the base ages alongside the top. It is a two person lift.

Dust along the grain with a soft dry cloth and wipe spills straight away. Use mats and coasters, avoid silicone polishes and all-purpose sprays, and keep the table away from radiators and strong direct sun.

Pine is a softwood, so it marks more readily than oak, but everyday marks blend into the character, and the colour deepens gently with age. Your table will differ visibly from the photographs. If you want every plank the same colour, reclaimed timber is the wrong choice.

Mix a bench along one side with linen dining chairs along the other, and add carvers at the ends. Hang two smaller pendants 75cm to 85cm above the top, and use a runner so the timber stays on show.

Warm neutrals such as oatmeal, clay and putty, or olive and sage walls, make the amber glow. Dark glazed stoneware and a jute rug finish the room.
