The Isabella is built from a considered three-fibre blend — wool for warmth and softness, viscose for the subtle silken sheen, and polyester for the everyday durability that keeps the rug looking right after years of use. The result is a piece that sits in the soft middle ground between a pure-wool rug (warm but precious) and a pure-jute rug (hardwearing but coarse). At 160 × 230cm, the Isabella is sized for a standard living room (front legs of a three-seat sofa on the rug, coffee table fully on it), a dining area beneath a six-seat table, or as a generous bedroom rug at the foot of a double or king-size bed. The soft hand and tailored fringe make it particularly well suited to bedrooms and snugs where comfort underfoot matters most.
How soft is it underfoot?
Significantly softer than a jute or sisal rug, closer to the comfort of a wool rug. The wool content gives the surface its warm hand and gentle cushioning, while the viscose adds the subtle sheen and silken touch. Comfortable barefoot, and pleasant to sit on for floor play or reading.
How do I clean it?
Vacuum regularly using a low-suction setting without a rotating brush, which can pull at the fibres or fringe. For spills, blot immediately with a dry cloth and treat with a mild wool-safe cleaner — never rub or soak. For deeper cleaning, professional rug cleaning is recommended over home washing or steam cleaning, both of which can damage the wool and viscose content.
Will the Isabella shed?
As with all wool-blend rugs, the Isabella will shed slightly when new — this is normal and settles down significantly within the first few weeks of use. Regular vacuuming during this period clears the loose fibres quickly. A rug pad underneath also helps reduce friction and extends the rug's lifespan.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Because each Isabella is handwoven, every rug carries subtle variations in tone, fibre density and weave character. The character you see in the photos is representative — your Isabella will have its own distinctive personality.
