Will it fit? The shade is wide, so allow a surface at least 40cm deep. It suits a console of 100cm or more. On a bedside table of 55cm to 65cm high, the shade sits at about shoulder height when you are reading in bed.

Check that your nearest socket is within reach of the 1.3m flex.

Standard E27 fitting, up to 60W. No bulb is included. It is dimmable with a dimmable bulb and compatible switch, or use a smart bulb. For indoor use only.

Dust the base with a soft dry cloth. Never use water or spray on the linen shade, as it will mark permanently; a soft brush, lint roller or hairdryer on cool is all it needs. Let the bulb cool before changing it, and keep the lamp out of bathrooms and damp conservatories.

The speckle varies from lamp to lamp, and the linen softens slightly in tone over the years.

Fit a warm bulb at 2400K to 2700K; cooler light turns linen grey. Use a matching pair at either end of a console or sideboard, with a mirror above to double the glow. Group it with books, a tray and a dark glazed vessel.

Warm neutrals, terracotta, rattan and oak all suit the sandy ceramic. If buying a pair, order them together so they come from the same batch.
